It's impossible to say which is the best season for your vacation at Lake & River on the turquoise Lago di Carezza and the green Lago di Mezzo.

While the region attracts hikers, mountain bikers and mountaineers in the summer months, the meadows and forests around the Latemar and Catinaccio mountains are transformed into a snow-covered wonderland in winter.

Our hotel is located in a sunny area, which is best enjoyed from one of our terraces.

Active summer vacations in the Dolomites

From the hotel, you can reach the legendary Lago Di Carezza after a ten-minute walk. Enjoy the view of the mountain peaks reflected on the surface of the water and embark on wonderful hikes or e-mountain bike tours. Summer is also the ideal season for nature photography, golfing and horse riding.

Skiing under the Catinaccio

Spend your winter vacation at Lake & River and benefit from a perfect location in the middle of a snow-covered paradise. The Carezza ski area offers 40 kilometres of slopes of all levels of difficulty, 13 modern lifts, numerous ski schools and ski rentals, a snow park, inviting alpine huts and the best conditions for winter hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sledging.

Golden leaves and pure romance

In autumn, the forests around the Catinaccio and Latemar mountains burst with colour. Go on hikes to picturesque viewpoints, hop on a bike or book a local mountain guide for a climbing tour. Don't miss the legendary alpenglow that can be seen here on many autumn evenings.

Nature awakens at Lago Di Carezza

In spring, nature awakens around Lago Di Carezza. This is the time to open the season with a walk around the lake, which shimmers in rainbow colours and has the highest water level of the year. Depending on the weather, the conditions are also ideal for hiking and mountain biking.

our History

The predecessor of today's Lake & River Hotel was first mentioned in 1925. The owner of the hotel, then called "Buffett nel bosco Plank", was the Plank family.

A military alliance formed between the German Reich and Italy meant that the German-Italian border at the Brenner Pass remained in place and the South Tyroleans were to be resettled.

Like all German-speaking South Tyroleans, the Plank family was faced with the choice of leaving their homeland of South Tyrol or accepting the linguistic and cultural oppression associated with Italianization.

Around a third of the population of South Tyrol decided to leave the country between 1939 and 1943. The Plank family made this difficult decision too, handing over the building to the Ente Nazionale per le Tre Venezie, an Italian state company, for a symbolic price.

In 1949, the Erschbaumer family acquired the hotel, which they continued to develop and enjoy running under the name "Hotel Simhild" for decades.

In 2023, the family went into well-deserved retirement and handed over the hotel to the current operator, Oui Nilakul.
Born in Thailand, she came to South Tyrol in 2005 and has decades of experience in the restaurant and hotel industry. Her restaurant, with which she builds a culinary bridge between Thailand and South Tyrol, is open to the public and has quickly become a popular meeting place for locals and visitors from all over the world.

In our rooms, you will feel like you are in your own holiday home in the mountains.

Our cosy rooms with wooden furnishings await you, all of which have a balcony or terrace with river or mountain views. The rooms are equipped with single or double beds, air conditioning and a flat-screen TV. Each bathroom has complimentary toiletries, bathrobes, a bath or shower, a bidet and a hairdryer.
Enjoy the marvellous views of the Latemar, the little Pukelin river and the green hill with the Catinaccio in the background.

Breakfast included: you'll never run out of coffee with us! We serve fresh bread, croissants, fruit, eggs and some authentic Thai breakfast dishes to get your day off to a good start.

Thai Zwei Drei – where Thai cuisine meets South Tyrolean freshness

Who would have imagined a restaurant in South Tyrol serving authentic Thai cuisine could make you forget about Schlutzkrapfen and bacon for an evening? At Thai Zwei Drei, hostess Oui Nilakul serves you the best dishes from her homeland.

In keeping with the "ThaiTyrol" concept, all dishes are prepared with fresh, locally sourced produce, complemented by imported spices and exotic herbs.
